Location

The summer school will be held at Thalassotherapia Opatija, Villa Dubrava. The speakers and the participants will be accommodated in the same building.

Opatija is located in North Croatia very close to Rijeka. It is an elegant tourist destination, which lies at the centre of the Riviera. The very attractive geographic position, enabling its warm seas to be quickly reached from many cities in Central Europe (only about 500 km from Milan, Vienna and Munich), lush green scenery and a pleasant climate.

Built mainly at the turn of the 20th century, Opatija has remained in complete harmony with Nature right up until the present day. Well-maintained public gardens, the illuminated 12-km-long coastal promenade known as the "Lungomare", and well-kept beaches and fountains. The contrasts of sea and mountains, green parks and blue ocean, old buildings and modern comforts, noisy entertainment venues and quiet destinations for excursions all combine to make Opatija and its surroundings a very attractive place for a summer school.

  Opatija is approx. 180 km from Zagreb airport and 12 km from Rijeka. A train from Zagreb to Rijeka takes approx. 4 hours and costs between 12 to 15 Euro. From Rijeka to Opatija you have a bus every 30 minutes and the ticket costs approx. 3 Euro.

  Travelling by train to Rijeka is possible and recommended. Night train from Munich to Rijeka (Departure 11.43 p.m., Arrival 8.50 a.m.) costs approx. 76 Euro one way.

Accommodation

The speakers and the participants will be accommodated in Villa Dubrava at Thalassotherapia Opatija. We have reserved rooms for the speakers and the participants from September 24^th on.
